The Promising Partner; My Birkin.

This never ending love affair, ladies, fashion enthusiasts, the minimalists, ethnic chics and everything in between can't stay away. A love affair requires a companion, the partner with a strong and firm hold on you, you look for that companion that is able to promise you years of commitment and loyalty with the smallest trace of disappointment and unpleasant surprises. We want a partner that can give us enough room to help create our space and still be patient enough to let us fill out that space. At the same time we seek that perfect amount of space that doesn't stretch too far else our grip will be inconvenienced. For years and years women have stomped the streets, stayed up at night strategizing over how to snag the perfect partner, the rebels break the rules by getting their hands on more than one. For most ladies, it doesn't just stop at the Chanel classic that is promised to last you through the decades with its timeless design, nope. We also want the Louis Vuitton speedy after all Audrey Hepburn was photographed numerous times with it. How about the Birkin, a moment of silence for the ultimate partner. Say it out loud, ''BIRKIN'. THE ONE that you've waited for all your life to have, the one that keeps you up at night drawing up blue prints on how to convince your credit card company to increase your spending limit.
Let's be honest, we all have a love affair with handbags. Its in our genes, the want to constantly fill our closets and collections with the perfect most and devoted partners from the world of purses goes on for an entire life time. Afterall, we won't be proper females if we didn't act like this.
Over the past weeks, I have been on the hunt and got myself three new partners. Courtesy of Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Hermes'. And my most promising has got to be hands down - The Birkin.
That being said, all three are divine. the have the perfect grip, enough room, promises of good quality, love devotion and a long lasting relationship. What more can a girl ask for?

Retro Soul. Drink my soul.

My look of the day....

Channelling my inner 50s girl, winged sunnies, patterned dress et al.
Sunnies- Topshop
Dress- Vintage.
I am having an uber stressful, between planning shoots, making numerous mood boards, styling new clients and queuing at the bank which i hate with a passion. Oh and did I mention the traffic here in Lagos?
And nobody ever told me I was a task booking horses at the Polo club for shoots. But oh well, nothing like winged sunnies to help hide the stress. In the word of Victoria Beckham; "Never let anyone see the bags underneath your eyes, always have sunglasses on".

MY STYLE FACTORY

Hello lovelies, I would have posted this up earlier but it's been a crazy day been at meetings and all that. So yesterday I added a fashion trade fair event hosted by Morsi PR, its called "My Style Factory". I absolutely love going to these events because you get to discover a lot of talented underground designers and fashion enthusiasts just like myself. HOW FUN! Ok, so here are the pictures. I promised myself I'd post this blog before running off to stuff my face with some white bread toast.

Retrospective and Vintage jewellery by Pepper Okwesa! Beautiful pieces.

Hand made leather and sheepskin handbags by Lucy Odim. I want that pink purse so bad! That's the next on my to-buy-list.

These pieces were made by upcoming designer Mariam ILaka! I literally just met her yesterday and I'm her number 1 fan. Her collection ranges from luxury evening wear, cocktail dresses, to edgy Lady Gaga-esque pieces. I'm even more stoked to be working with her on her collection in the next couple of weeks. (You heard it here first).

Fab Jewels by Bennis creations, she started off stocking accessories from TopShop and other high street stores, but now she makes most of her jewellery.
Introducing another upcoming design label I am excited about, called ITUA!

P.s- Kudos to my boyfriend for taking the pictures for me. I dragged the poor boy along and he was a good sport! We were there for at least four hours. Thank you hun.

Black power shoulder blazer- H&M

LITTLE GOTH....

I really hate to call the use of Black lipstick a "TREND", cause really it is not! There were THOUSANDS OF GOTHS using pitch black lipstick and dark eye make-up to express what they felt inside before Naomi Campbell was successfully convinced to slap on some of that black stuff on her lips.
It literally took me five minutes to create this look (all the while I was BBMing with my boyfriend), plus! for the first time in a year I'm actually wearing some foundation. I know people find it difficult to believe that as a make up artist and wardrobe stylist I don't really use that many products, but this is because its almost IMPOSSIBLE to find the correct colour for my skin tone. In these pictures I mixed three different colours of MAC liquid foundation, finished off with layers of Sleek luminous powder to achieve the desired effect.
Instead of using the traditional black lipstick, I grabbed my MAC eyeliner in black smoulder and proceeded to colour my lips. The same eyeliner is used underneath my eyes. And a MAC eyebrow pencil in the colour "stud" is use to give my eyebrows a statement.

Before creating this look on myself, I would usually see a goth and think (is the dark make-up necessary???). But now I'm eating my words, this look makes me feel incredibly powerful and intimidating like I have a hard shell that nobody can crack. I guess you can say this is an ODE to the goths everywhere, its' high time the runway, make up artists and designers gave credit to these grunge indulgent kids who inspired this new high fashion trend.
